My last few days in Disney

I can't believe my time at Disney has come to an end.. I've had the most amazing experience and memories and friends that will last a lifetime. This has been and will always be, one of the best experiences of my life. It really is true that all your dreams come true at Disney.

On Thursday we went to Animal Kingdom early and enjoyed a full day at the park. Followed by coming home and heading to Hooters for dinner...where better hey?! I obviously bought a Hooters t-shirt! Then we went to Magic Kingdom to watch the Main Street Electrical Parade, Celebrate the Magic and finally Wishes fireworks. It was such an emotional evening and was so special to spend it with all my friends. It was horrible saying goodbye to my friends though and an end to our Disney summer adventure together. However, it's never a 'goodbye', it's a 'see you real soon'.

On Friday, Louise, Bryony and I said goodbye to Vista Way and apartment 2109 and went to Disney's All Star Sports resort for the next few nights! We had a relaxing day by the pool and then when Bryony's friend from England, Becky, arrived we went for dinner and headed to Hollywood Studios to use our Disney entrance pass for the last time! We went on our favourite rides; Tower of Terror & Rock 'n Roller Coaster and met up with some of the other girls for a final watch of Fantasmic!

On Saturday it was an early start for our character breakfast at the Yacht & Beach Club! We had a yummy breakfast complete with dining with Minnie, Donald and Goofy! We then headed to Downtown Disney for a wander round! I even dressed up in a child's princess dress as Princess Aurora...casual way to spend a day!
We spent a few hours by the pool in the afternoon and then in the evening headed to Disney's Polynesian Resort for nibbles and cocktails at the bar and then to the beach for a view of Wishes! This was such a lovely day and full of Disney memories <3

Another early start on Sunday and a full day at Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure! It was a jam-packed day and we definitely did all we wanted to do!

I'm just about to board the plane to go to LA and start my travelling adventure! I am SO excited! Sadly I did have to throw away a pair of shorts, a couple tops and some left over vodka to ensure my suitcase was the right weight...but I'm on the way to LA baby!

Graduation!

So I am now officially a graduate of the Disney College program! Last Tuesday we had our Service Celebration event which is basically our graduation. The sun was shining and it was a super hot, beautiful day :) This day was definitely one of the best and full of memories with my friends.

The graduation took place at Chatham (one of the Disney dorms playing field) and the day started by registering and collecting our certificate and a Disney trinket box to put some memories in and most excitingly, our Mickey Mouse graduate hats! We had lots of photos opportunities with our hats, country flags and a backdrop of cinderella's castle. Then we moved on to meeting Mickey and Minnie dressed in their graduate attire! I absolutely love this photo :)

We headed off then to get some food and enjoyed an American BBQ of delights such as burgers, macaroni cheese and hot dogs! It was delicious. We had our photos taken with a cheeky Pluto and Goofy who were also in graduate attire and tried on some funny hats to have some photo booth photos taken! It was such a nice occasion and I loved sharing it with my friends.

After we got back to Vista, we went to Epcot! Myself and some of the girls went to get our graduation hats embroidered; I got Princess Jenn written on mine :) After this myself, Sarah, Shona and Clare headed to China in the World Showcase for our dinner reservation!
It was such a good meal and a nice way to spend our graduation evening by having a lovely dinner out. Then we went to watch Illuminations fireworks. This will be the last time I get to see them so what with the emotions of graduating and my time coming to an end; it was a bit emotional.

Then it was partytime! Tonight was Senior Frogs which is a bar/club where you pay $5 entrance and get free drinks all night! This turned out to be extremely lethal for me, but a very fun night!

Definitely was an amazing graduation day and evening and could not have wished for better! Disney really made an effort to make it such a memorable, special occasion. I can't believe my time is nearly over here, after building up to it and organising for it for so long beforehand! However, all in all, my wishes have come true <3

Last day working for the mouse

So today marks my last day of working for the mouse in Tomorrowland, Magic Kingdom.. I can't quite believe the day has come. I don't feel ready to leave the happiest place on earth yet.

My shift is 16:45-01:45 as they have extra hours tonight as it is the last week the American schools are off for holidays. I'm heading into work a bit early as there is a Minnie Mouse Cheerleader pin that I just NEED to buy before I leave! I did some sorting and packing this morning and some more sunbathing by the pool, before our last meal at Cici's... I'm going to miss an all-you-can-eat pizza and brownies buffet for $5!

I had a day off yesterday and spent it with a work friend, going for a walk around the Boardwalk which is one of the Disney resorts set on the water. It is so pretty and relaxed there! I even bought a Princess Aurora cushion- it will fit in my suitcase! Then headed to Epcot where I enjoyed a delicious, yet strong, frozen margarita and enjoying the attractions. Then finishing off at Hollywood Studios for the rides, dinner at the Pizza Planet out of Toy Story and watching Fantasmic for the last time! It was super hot and sunny as well which was loveeeely!

On Friday I move out of Vista and I'm not looking forward to it. Not only because I need to pack, but this place has become my home and I've completely settled here; being near all my friends and just living in a chilled happy atmosphere!

So 10 weeks spent working at the most popular theme park in the world, the happiest place on earth and where all your dreams come true... Yeah, I'd say I'm pretty lucky <3

Seaworld!

On Saturday, Louise and I finally got round to going to Seaworld!! It was a super fun day :)

We got up really early to make sure we could get one of the first I-rides buses there. This wasn't so pleasant after getting home at 2.30am after work last night. Firstly we headed to the new ride 'Antartica: Empire of the Penguin'. This was always going to be a highlight for me, what with my obsession with penguins! The ride consisted of following a penguin called Puck's journey through Antartica! Then after the ride, we got to see REAL penguins! It was so cold as they obviously tried to keep the temperature as cold as possible for the penguins. They were so cute and if I could have worked out a way to steal one and take it back home to England, I would have!

After this we had another exciting experience of feeding the dolphins! This was something I had done on a previous family holiday... However, before, we had missed the dolphin feeding times, so OBVIOUSLY I threw a tantrum and made my parents take us back there the next morning!..sorry for the tantrum mum and dad! The dolphin feeding was so fun and I got to stroke and touch the dolphins. They're such cute and playful animals and always look like they're smiling.

The rest of the day consisted of going on rollercoasters, visiting the animals, going on the Journey to Atlantis water ride and of course seeing the shows! We watched the dolphin show which was amazing and I loved seeing them perform. Also of course the Shamu show...I LOVE Shamu! The show was spectacular, however, it has differed now after the traumatic story of Shamu attacked a trainer and the trainers no longer get in the water with the whales anymore. However, it was still spectacular! We also watched the Clyde and Seamore sea lion show, which was absolutely hilarious!

We also went on the Wild Arctic ride, which I remember from the first time we came to Florida when I was 5, that I was scared to go on it as I thought we wouldn't be able to get home from the Arctic! Luckily, we made it back in one piece and got to see polar bears, walruses, the cutest, largest, most chilled animals, the manatees and more!

It was an awesome day and I'm so glad we decided to go. I even bought a dolphin pen :) Sadly, I didn't think the super size Shamu and Polar Bear would fit in my suitcase though :(

Dining at Be Our Guest Restaurant

So on Friday I finally got the chance to go for a meal at the Be Our Guest restaurant at the new Beauty and the Beast Castle in Magic Kingdom! It was definitely one of the top highlights of my time whilst being here.

Bryony and I went into Magic Kingdom early and enjoyed meeting some more characters and going on the Peter Pan's Flight ride before heading to the Beauty and the Beast castle. At lunchtime it is quick service and we only had to queue for about 15mins. The inside of the castle was created so beautifully and looked exactly how you would imagine and know the castle to be like. I ordered vegetable quiche with salad and a strawberry cream cupcake for dessert. We were given a red rose to hold and scan our meal choices onto and then our food was delivered on some ornate food serving trolleys. The food was amazing and the strawberry cupcake especially was delicious! There were two possible rooms to eat in; the grand 2-story ballroom or the mysterious west wing.
We even got to see the enchanted rose in the glass! The castle featured murals inspired by France's Loire Valley, floor to ceiling arched windows with snow details and beautiful mosaics.

This was such a fun experience and definitely one of the best meals I've had during my time at Disney :)

"....Welcome to America"

After super-closing at work on Wednesday, which is finishing at 12.45, my friend gave me and another girl on the college program a lift home. We went en-route to Taco Bell and I had my first ever Taco Bell!! I'm so totes American now!! When asked what I wanted I had no idea! They suggested a particular item and described it as "A dorito stuffed with meat and cheese.... Welcome to America!" That sure is a welcome to America; they certainly don't have anything like that in England... Or if you go by the UK pavilion in Epcot, all we eat is fish & chips! I must say my first ever Taco Bell was SO good though, I had a Double Decker Taco which is a soft tortilla with beans and wrapped with a crunchy corn taco shell with beef, cheese and lettuce!

So besides working and eating Taco Bell, Monday was another day off and I went jet skiing! It was SO FUN! It was such a pretty picturesque location as well and being beautiful sunshine, for once, made it perfect! Then a lot of sunbathing took place to make the most of the hot sunshine! Followed by a trip to Florida Mall! Definitely better shops than England and I bought a cute crop top from Victoria Secret. This was then followed by Cici's and a trip to Paradiso 37 at Downtown Disney! The cocktail was huuuuge and only $10 as we had the glasses from before.

I treated myself to a trip to the Outlet Mall at the Commons and bought a Calvin Klein purse which was only $44, which is $30. We headed to Mickey's Retreat but sadly it started to rain so no chance to take out pedalos today! Before work on Wednesday, I went to Epcot with a friend and I had my first ever Funnel Cake!
This is typically American and I'm glad I tried it because it was delicious! We also went on some rides and had a walk around the world showcase :) The Canada video is one of my favourites as it reminds me of all the places we visited on our holiday there! Yesterday consisted of more food before work and a trip to Ihop! I'll never get bored of the American pancakes - they need these in England!!

Today I'm heading to Magic Kingdom before work to go on some rides, meet some characters and most importantly, a trip to the Be Our Guest restaurant for lunch! IM SO EXCITED!

Time is flying!

So I am sad to announce after my last post about the Kitchen Sink Dessert Challenge, we did not manage to finish it all! It was huge but tasted SO GOOD! It was full of ice cream, squirty cream, brownies, mars bar slices, peanuts, sauces; generally all deliciousness! We had a good go at it though!

I enjoyed a early finish last Saturday and spent it by watching the parade, celebrate the magic and wishes fireworks in the evening.. Pretty special being able to just finish work, get changed and be able to enjoy the park :) Sunday and Monday were my days off and Sunday was spent at Univeral Studios and Islands of Adventure for a day full of rides! 'Rip ride rocket' has got to be one of my favourite rides!...being able to pick a music track to listen to whilst going on a roller coaster is pretty fun! After the parks we took a trip to Publix to get the ingredients for our lasagne night! It was about time we had a home cooked meal and luckily Louise is a pro chef at lasagne! So us girls and three of the guys enjoyed a delicious lasagne! Promptly followed by the weekly House of Blues night out! I really wish England would take up the concept of free drinks for girls before midnight!

On my day off on Monday it started with a gym session after 3 and a half hours sleep...standard! Then we went to Ihop for more yummy pancakes!
This was followed by an afternoon at the Polynesian resort sunbathing by the beach...sadly it was a bit cloudy, but was so nice to chill by the beach, accompanied with a dole whip and cocktail of course! When it started to rain we headed to Magic Kingdom for an hour or so then went to Bahama Breeze for dinner! It was sooo goood!... As you can tell my food over here consists of either sandwiches at work or eating out..no cooking!

On Wednesday we went to Miami!!!!! It meant meeting for a coach at 4am after only 2 hours sleep! Sadly the weather wasn't what you would call great or sunbathing weather... But we made the most of it by looking round the iconic shops such as Miami Ink and the Kardasian's Dash shop, as well as doing some shopping, drinking cocktails and having a meal at TGI Friday's! Sod's law that the weather brightened up just as we were leaving but I can say I've spent a day in Miami now, after only stopping through there before a flight home after a Disney holiday before!

Friday was my first trip to cast connections! This is a store which sells damaged or cheap Disney merchandise, exclusive for cast members! I got a set of Minnie Mouse ears - the ones I've wanted since day 1 for only $6, key chains for 10cents, a postcard and a Minnie Mouse cheerleader Christmas tree decoration for only 50cents! Buzzing!! We then headed to Magic Kingdom for a few hours before work!

I finished work at 2.45 yesterday so went to Epcot to meet some more Disney princesses, including my 'lookalike' princess aurora!
I had a coconut and white chocolate ice cream in the France part of the world showcase and can honestly say it was the best ice cream I've tasted! I went to a party at my friend's flat at Patterson and it was simply the craziest, drunkest night!

Today is my day off so I'm at Hollywood studios after recovering from last night then TGI Friday's and house of blues tonight! :)

Princess Aurora...

Recently A LOT of people; guests and cast members, have randomly been telling me I look like Princess Aurora! BEST compliment EVER! Also when i met Princess Aurora she told me we looked alike and could be sisters, especially if i curled my hair like hers! Have I found a new calling in life?

When I grow up, I want to be a Disney Princess :) What do you think?!

I don't ever want the dream to end....

As per usual, Ive been so hectically busy and making the most of my time here! I was very glad at 22:45 on Saturday to have finished my 50+ hours working week! Although the time went quickly and the atmosphere was so good because everyone was celebrating 4th July, it was A LOT of hours to do in just 5 days! On Friday & Saturday night I was working out on one of the carts, so got the opportunity to watch the Celebrate America fireworks again :) After feeling exhausted, seeing the fireworks did make it all worth it... I almost feel more patriotic towards America than I do England...sorry!

I then had 3 whole days off! Woooo! On Sunday I went to Ihop (international house of pancakes) with Lou for breakfast...let me tell you, it was INCREDIBLE!
Then we went to spend the day in Epcot. Frozen margaritas were drunk in the sunshine, walks around the world showcase, meeting Mulan and going on the rides :) We then came home and went to Cici's for dinner! This place is America all over... An all you can eat pizza and pasta buffet for $5! Unfortunately I was feeling really ill, so the small amount I could eat wasn't really enjoyed! After this, the red cups were out, vodka was flowing and it was time for House of Blues!I definitely made the most of the free drinks before midnight this time and had a whale of a time!...very similar to a BCU night out...!

On Monday we chilled by the pool and recovered from the night before and then headed to Hollywood Studios!

Tuesday was just a perfect day... We started off with a character breakfast at the Grand Floridian hotel! We enjoyed lots of yummy breakfast food and met Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Alice in Wonderland, the Mad Hatter and Mary Poppins! Was SO much fun :)
Then some of us headed to Animal Kingdom for the day! I decided to go on the rapids without my poncho and obviously, was the one who got drenched...bad day to wear a white dress! In the evening, I went to my first ever foam party!...where better to go than in America hey!
It was SO much fun!! :) Back
to work on Wednesday and Thursday, with some sunbathing and shopping in between.. I treated myself to some clothes and a Vera Bradley rucksack after my bumper pay cheque from last week's work!

This morning after the gym, we're off to Disney's Beach Club Resort to tackle the famous Kitchen Sink challenge! Wish us luck!

Happy Independence Day y'all

So I'm just on my way into work and it's Independence Day! The Magic Kingdom was at phase 2 capacity at 12pm, so I'm sure today will be manically busy!! So far I've celebrated the 4th July by sunbathing and enjoying a free hot dog and slice of apple pie from the Disney housing office! :)

Since my last update I've been having such a lovely time with my family on their vacation. We visited all the Disney parks, went to the Universal parks, they visited NASA too, went to Downtown Disney and international drive and had some delicous meals. We had such a lovely time together; it could not have been more perfect. We also enjoyed a character dinner at Epcot, where we dined with Mickey Mouse, Pluto and Chip & Dale! It was so fun and such yummy food. The characters were fantastic and Dale proposed to me...hello American visa!!! Another excellent meal we had was in an American 50s style diner in Hollywood Studios! The cast members who served us were hilarious and made the experience authentically 50s American and I tried my first ever meatloaf; delicious!

We all have built up such fond memories of vacations at Disney and this holiday has definitely added more for us all. I'm so happy they got to come over and visit me :) Also it was handy because I could buy some goodies and give them to my parents to take home to save me carrying them all around America travelling!  It was sad to say bye and horrible to think when I see them next my adventure will be over, but we all had the best time together :)

My shifts this week have been CRAZY hours. Yesterday as Magic Kingdom had extra magic hours until 3am, I was scheduled to work 3pm-3.45am! Needless to say my feet and legs were dying after that shift!

Most of my time since my last post has been spent spending time with my family, but I've also managed to fit in some sunbathing, another crazy night out at House of Blues and also got to see the special 'celebrate America' 4th July fireworks at Magic Kingdom on Monday!
They were incredible! The fireworks were let off all over the park so you could view them from anywhere and were themed all red, white and blue! America sure do know how to celebrate! It really does put into comparison how patriotic and proud a nation America is in comparison to England!!

I'm nearly at work now so will finish for now...off to get a coffee before my next long shift!!

Tuesday, 25 June 2013

I've been here 3 weeks!

So yesterday marked the 3 week point since I got here. I cannot believe how quickly the time is going....however, I am 100% making the most of my time here!

I've been busy busy in the last week working and making the most of my time off! This has involved lots of trips to theme parks, lots of sunbathing and nights out. My tan is definitely the best tan I've ever accomplished so far! It is so relaxing just chilling and sunbathing by the pool on the morning of a day off before going to the theme parks or making the most of sunbathing before starting work!

I went to Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure again on Wednesday and did more of the rides. The only thing that disappointed me was that they have got rid of Back to the Future and the Jaws ride - but at least the photo opportunity is still there! From my point of view, these are classics! I am also getting my way through doing all the rides and attractions in the Disney theme parks! :)

I am loving this experience and the feeling of having no worries, no stress and just pure happiness and fun times is amazing. I never want the feeling to stop!

I have met more characters including my favourite, Minnie Mouse! When handing her my autograph book to sign and my Minnie Mouse pen, I proceeded to say she was my favourite and I got another big hug from her :)

Some HUGE news that I should mention is that I received my degree classification last week! I have been awarded a First class honours degree in Marketing, Advertising & Public Relations! And to top that, my tutor has informed me I receive the Marketing course award for achieving the highest marks on my course! Chuffed doesn't even cover it! Receiving my grade whilst having the summer of my life in the happiest place on earth is pretty special...it truly is where dreams come true!

My family arrived on Sunday! Sadly their flight was delayed 24hrs due to an aircraft fault so we missed a whole day together :( However, yesterday, we definitely made up for it by spending a jam-packed full day in Magic Kingdom! We did nearly all of the rides. watched lots of shows and parades and had a lovely dinner in the park. Once again, Wishes fireworks made me emotional! The day was so special and I loved being able to experience the Disney magic with my family once again. Roll on more family memories whilst they're here on vacation!

I am possibly the happiest girl ever right now :) "All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them."

Love for Up!

As you all know, I literally LOVE the film Up....a lot! So when I saw the pin in Epcot on the weekend, I had to buy it! It's the same pin that Ellie gives to Mr Fredricksen at the beginning of the film when they meet when they're kids. "You and me, we're in a club now".

Sunny sunny sunshine

The sun has been shining and it's been super hot! I'm building up my tan! :)

Since my last post I've officially taken my assessment and passed with 88%! My training is nearly coming to an end and I had my first late shift on Thursday - 3pm-11.30pm! I was so tired afterwards! However it was nice being able to have the morning off as I spent it sunbathing by the pool! :)

After work on Wednesday we went to Magic Kingdom! This was the first time I'd been on a ride in Magic Kingdom this summer. As I entered the park I even managed to catch the beginning of a parade. I'm desperate to meet more Disney characters and get Autographs - need to see Minnie and Mickey! :) We also went on 'it's a small world', which although some people find this ride tame and the song annoying, it has fond family memories for me of holidays in Disney.

Friday and Saturdy were my days off, so they were spent sunbathing by the pool and going to Epcot on Friday.
Followed by a partybus to a club in downtown orlando on Friday night! It was so so fun! I massively underestimated how little alcohol it would take to get me drunk though! On Saturday we went to Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure! So much fun and we even got to see Gavin DeGraw live in a concert!

I've been noticing lots of little differences between English and American whilst being here. Of course the food is WAYYY more yummy, but bad for you! But also that guests in the theme parks are a lot more willing to approach you to ask for assistance; it always seems that in England people would prefer to get lost than ask for assistance! Another odd thing is that my trainer found it funny that we speak in military time, such as half 11, but we still use the 24hr clock but don't say half 23!

So BIG NEWS, today I had my first ever peanut butter & jelly sandwich! My trainer couldn't believe I'd never tried one so made me one! It was surprisingly really good! I'm practically a fully fledged American now!

Non-stop fun :)

Gosh, so much has been happening, I literally haven't stopped, but I have been having the most amazing time! :)

My last post ended with us about to head to Downtown Disney; where we had a browse of all the shops and saw endless amounts of things I want to buy (including some very sweet treats from Goofy's Candy Co)! We went for dinner at T-Rex which is a prehistoric adventure!

On Friday we had our traditions class at Disney University where we officially became part of the Walt Disney Company! We had various training sessions, including it being drilled into us that 'SafeD begins with me' received our main gate passes so we now get to go into the theme parks for free! During Traditions we went into Magic Kingdom and I can honestly say I had the biggest smile on my face, seeing Cinderella's Castle again and immediately feeling the happiness of all the guests! We also got to meet the one & only Mickey Mouse as he came into our class to give us our namebadges! Traditions class really struck home how lucky I am to have this experience; working in the happiest place on earth, where dreams come true! After traditions we went into Magic Kingdom, took lots of photos, went for food in Tomorrowland (where I would be working) and watched the Main Street Electrical Parade, Celebrate the Magic and Wishes fireworks. I got emotional at the fireworks, I literally am just so happy and excited to be here!! :) I also bought my first bit of merchandise - an autograph book and Minnie Mouse pen!

On Saturday we went to Blizzard Beach water park which was so fun! Think I'm building up my tan! Even got to meet Goofy! Then in the evening we went to Hollywood Studios and went on our favourite rides; Tower of Terror and Rock 'n Roller coaster, met Buzz and Woody and watched Fantasmic! Amazing show!

Sunday was my first morning of work, we were shown around Magic Kingdom and taught lots of hidden secrets and details about the park; so much detail has gone into it, incredible. Then after this we all went to Animal Kingdom - was boiling hot and so sunny! Had a top highlight and met Doug and Russell from Up - literally could have cried with happiness!
Went on lots of rides and on the safari. I was so tired by the end though as I'd been up since 5am for training! Therefore, we went home and had dinner at Applebee's which is across the road from Vista!

Yesterday was my first full day of training; starting 9.30- 6. Was such a good day! Got my costume which isn't too bad in all honesty, in comparison to some....photos to follow! Got trained around all the different shops and outdoor carts I could be working on, did some e-learning and had a manager leadership meeting. Everyone was so friendly and Tomorrowland seems like a real fun place to work! My trainer couldn't believe I'd never had peanut butter (as obviously it's such a massive popular food over here; peanut butter and jelly sandwiches!) and she bought me a Reece's Peanut Butter Cup; it was AMAZING, tasted so nice! In the evening a big group of us from Vista went to an 'all you can eat' buffet. I was literally overwhelmed by the amount of food there was! I even had candyfloss!

Today was another day at Disney University and lots of e-learning and training, including being shown how to use the tills!
Another trip to Walmart, so I now no longer just had porridge and lettuce to eat! Bought my first American poptarts - cookie dough flavour, YUM!

I am having the best time in my Disney adventure! :)

I'M IN AMERICA BABY!

So I'm officially here in America and posting from my apartment in Vista Way! Pretty exciting right! So much has happened and so much to update!!

The flight out was fine and honestly didn't feel that long, watching films and chatting makes the time pass quickly! When we landed we had to queue for 2 hours to get through immigration...it was SO long and such a slow queue. We then got a taxi to Vista Way where we found out where we were living. We were able to choose who we want to live with, so myself and three of the girls I'm travelling with afterwards are all going to be living together in Vista Way! Woohoooo!! :) Party central. We got to our apartment and it's dead cute :) We made the essential trip to Walmart to get bedding, towels and breakfast food. By the time we got to bed it was midnight, which is 5am English time! That's a long 22hour day!! Zzzz

The first official day in Florida!...We had meetings very early, so no time for jet lag! The meetings were about immigration and filling out paperwork and we had a lunch break so went to the nearby outlet mall - saw A LOT of stuff I wanted to buy. Roll on payday!! The afternoon talk was so overly Disney America happy cheesy, was amazing! Typically what you would think of about Disney employees! We had a special evening as it was one of the girl's 21st birthday. So we went to the Polynesian Resort for cocktails and nibbles, caught the Monorail to the Grand Floridan for some photo opportunities at this beautiful Disney hotel and then jumped back on the Monorail to go to the Contemporary resort. The Disney store we went into was amazing, I literally saw so many Disney goodies I wanted to buy!! Then we watched the Wishes fireworks over Cinderella Castle from the resort, was so amazing and emotional. Officially hit home that we were in Disney! I can't wait until we get our passes so we can go into the theme parks!!

The next day consisted of some more meetings and finding out where we were working!! *drumroll* I will be working in Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom! So pleased :) I start training on Sunday and get my costume too! Excited to see what it is like. Another trip to Walmart followed to buy some sexy work shoes...don't you just LOVE them?!...although they are very comfy in all honesty!
We got caught in a massive rain downpour and got absolutely drenched...this was the start of Tropical Storm Andrea!
In the evening we went to the 'Where's Perry Welcome Party'; consisting of some typical 90s music, free pizza and getting to meet the our first Disney characters - Phineas and Ferb. It was lots of fun and a fun atmosphere :)

Today we woke up to horrendous tropical storms and rain - never made better knowing it's sunny at home! But we're heading off to Downtown Disney soon for a wander round the shops and for dinner!

So that's my update for now. I'm loving it and loving all the Disney and American people. Everyone is so happy and friendly - they really cannot do enough for you. I just can't wait to start work and be a part of that.... 'Have a magical day!'

The adventure has begun...

I can see airplanes, I can hear airplanes....I'm writing this blog post from my hotel room at the Premier Inn at Gatwick! I'm all checked into my room and ready and raring to go! My suitcase is all packed and luckily I managed to fit everything I wanted to take without being over the luggage allowance! I've also got a cabin sized suitcase to take which is empty so I can fill that with goodies and shopping sprees in America :)
I can't believe it's come around so quickly and tomorrow I fly off to start my dream come true adventure in America. I don't think 'excited' even begins to cover it!
Saying bye to my family was sad, but knowing the next time I see them will be in a few weeks in Disneyworld itself is a happy thought.
The photo is the first of my adventure, taken before we drove up to Gatwick. Sad to say bye to the beautiful Cornish countryside for 3 months!
I'm off for dinner with some of the girls now who are also staying in the hotel :) My next blogpost will probably be when IM IN AMERICA!! EXCITING!

Disney Leaving Party

Last weekend after I arrived home from my last weekend of uni life in Birmingham, I had a lovely celebratory afternoon and leaving party with my family.  My brother was home for the weekend, so it was a full family 'do!  We had a traditional yummy Sunday roast, complete with Disney balloons, table-cloth and napkin, of course, followed by a walk on the beach at Downderry.  Then later on my Nanny and Grandad came over for a party tea.  My Mum & Dad organised a Disney quiz and some Disney games to make sure my knowledge of Disney was up to scratch before my big adventure.  Did you know the last film Walt Disney played an active role in working on was the Jungle Book?!  Later on we had a Disney tea party with Minnie and Mickey Mouse cupcakes and a special Minnie Mouse cake!  Doesn't it all look delicious from the photos?

FINAL DISNEY EMAIL!

This got me extremely excited.... 4 days and my adventure of a life time begins :)

Tomorrow I will be getting my dollars and FINALLY getting round to packing...I hope it all fit.  Wish me luck!

Long overdue update

Gosh it has been a LONG time since I blogged, what with going on Tour with Uni to Spain, Easter Holidays and then final exams, life has been hectic! However, I received this email from YummyJobs today and realised I NEED to update my blog as it is so soon that I leave!

Now as I write this post I have officially finished University.  My last exam was on the 29th April and I cannot express how much relief I felt when it was all over.  I know I have worked as hard as I could have and put in 100% effort so hopefully this will pay off when I get my final degree classification.  Although I have moved back home, I went back to Birmingham last weekend for Alumni Weekend and Sports Awards Ball, where I said some emotional, final goodbyes to BCU, my friends and University life....can't believe it's all over!
So in terms of Disney preparation  it has all been go-go-go!  I went to London after the Easter Holidays for my visa appointment at the US Embassy.  I was expecting to be questioned heavily and was worried as I didn't really have much proof to show why I would be coming back to the UK - no University studies and no job! However, they literally asked me what I would be doing in America and what I was planning to do when I get home. Simple!

I have a to-do list which I am slowly getting through; I have bought my travel insurance, business attire dress for Traditions, sorted out my simcard for my phone in America and have done lots of holiday shopping (obviously a necessity)!  The girls and I have booked all our hotels for our travels too.  I am so excited to see all parts of America we are visiting and the girls are lovely and very similar to me, so I know we're going to have so much fun :)

I haven't attempted packing yet...truth be told, the thought of it makes me stressed.  How am I going to pack for 3 months and still have space for clothes which I want to buy in America?!  GOSH!
